Location

Iam based in Barnet, North London in the UK. Services are provided online and in person, depending on the project and service required.  In person meetings are often best for more nuanced communication, but online is often perfectly acceptable and is more time and fuel efficient!

I can provide references from previous clients on request, relevant to your project.

fees

Fees are tailored to each client’s requirements. I aim to respond to all initial enquiries submitted via the contact page on this website within 2 working days.  The next step would be to arrange a mutually convenient time for an initial telephone or video call. The call will normally take around 30 minutes and will enable me to prepare a tailored proposal and quotation for you to consider.  In some cases, it may take a little longer and it may be necessary to visit the site to help to understand the project.  There is no obligation to accept the initial quotation and no fee is payable if you choose not to proceed.

About

I am an Architect and Project Manager with over 30 years’ experience in the UK construction industry and with a strong interest in sustainable design.  I have a reputation for listening to my clients and contributing to the delivery of complex building projects that meet or exceed the brief, on programme and on budget.  So far, I have specialised in the residential, educational and public sectors, working on a mixture of new-build, extension and refurbishment projects.  I have worked at all project design stages but have developed particular expertise in technical design, business management, advocacy and expert witness work.

I came to Architecture from a pragmatic background in the industrial heart of the UK after a brief spell as a trainee engineer working on the design of submarines!  I soon found that I was more interested in other types of design than I was in submarines and thought I would give architecture a try. I have always been motivated by a belief in the value of sustainable design* and am very excited to have been able set up my own business to assist other designers, building owners and contractors with sustainable projects to deliver.

So, what is a “sustainable project”?  There could be several possible definitions, but in this case I am referring to any project which seeks to reduce harmful emissions, pollution, energy use, reliance on fossil fuels or promotes ways of living that reduce our impact on our planet. I am pleased to say that projects like this have become almost mainstream now, although sadly still not universal and thoughts on what is sustainable often differ.

In any event, I hope that this is something that will also interest you.  This website provides some initial details of my experience and services, with a few brief testimonials from clients, consultants and colleagues. If you have a project that you think I might be able to help you with, I would love to hear from you!
